    24bit 96k Mono Sample Player

    ONE brings organic sound and super low latency sample playback to the modular. It differs from other sample players in that it handles the digital audio bits as a continuously manipulated electrical flow, a feature inspired by our analog knowhow. This unique core makes ONE truly integral within the Tiptop percussive modular ecosystem thanks to a lightweight and responsive digital circuit with a very analog feel.

    ONE brings a world of colors to the modular right out of the package. We have invited some of the best sound designers in the Industry to create professional sound libraries with content tailored to the unique sonic framework of the modular synthesizer and that fully takes advantage of ONE’s unique qualities. To start with, ONE comes with a SD card loaded with a free set of 60 sounds designed by Glitchmachines. More cards are available to purchase separately each containing carefully selected material with up to 256 sound files. Using your own sample libraries or recordings is easy too, just copy 16 or 24bit mono WAV files onto the SD card, pop the card into ONE and go.

    ONE offers several modes of operation, with the primary being the super low latency Trigger mode that retrieves audio data off the SD card adding no artificial processing such as click removal, crossfading, eq or gain normalization. In this mode, it’s a highly transparent player up to 24 bit 96kHz with no interpolation of the audio data: what you put in is what you get out. With a delay as low as 0.25ms from the moment the trigger hits, ONE offers harmonically dense, clear and detailed audio with a great rhythmic feel.

    ONE handles external CV through a user selectable multifunction jack. Pitch is the main control with two modes available: Free pitch allows for fine tuning of the playback rate, great for adding subtle vibrato or wild tape speed effects; Quantized pitch maps CV to the standard 12 tone system over 3.5 octaves and is ideal for melodic content. CV can also be used to sequence through files off the SD card allowing far more varied sounds from a single source; almost like an entire percussion section behind the slim panel.

    Although originally designed to play tightly with our analog drums and envelopes, ONE’s rich sound quality encouraged us to make it work in a variety of other applications that are less demanding of sub millisecond timing response. The extra headroom at the core level allows features such as Gated playback, Looping, and Triggering with fades in and out to accommodate different types of sound sources from drum loops to polysynth chords to noise sources and other yet unimagined uses.

    ONE offers another useful dimension since it can play CV signals too. Drop in a card with LFO signals, random CV, slopes and envelopes for a whole set of new control and modulation possibilities.

    ONE is as simple to use as it is affordable and plays extremely well with it’s analog cousins – our vision for bringing samples into the modular world.

    Doepfer – A138u Dual Micro Mixer (USED)

    Dual Micro Mixer (2×3)

    Great space effective unity mixer for audio and cv. Trimpot on the back for gain staging.

    Module A-138u is a simple, low-cost mixer with two units. Each unit is equipped with three inputs and one output. The upper unit has for each input a trimming potentiometer available that allows to adjust the amplification in the range 0…+1 for each input (factory setting is 1 for all inputs). The inputs of the lower unit all have the same amplification +1.
    The output of the upper unit is normalled to the first input of the lower unit. That way the module can be used also as a mixer with five inputs: for this the inputs 1, 2 and 3 of the upper unit ad the inputs 2 and 3 of the lower unit are used. The sum output for all five signals is then the output of the lower unit. As soon as a plug is inserted into input 1 of the lower unit the module becomes a dual 3-in-1 mixer again.
    Inputs and Outputs are DC-coupled, i.e. audio and control signals can be mixed.

    Application examples:

    • Mixer for audio signals, e.g. three VCOs preceding a VCF, when the amplifications are adjusted slightly different no signal extinction occurs during the beat of the VCOs
    • Mixer for control voltages (e.g. LFOs, envelope generators, random voltages)

    Synthesis Technology – E330 Multimode VCO (USED)

    Multimode VCO with features from the E340 and E350, plus FM

    The E330 is a digital oscillator with three very different synthesis methods and two voltage controllable “effect inputs”. The audio signal is emitted at two outputs.

    The three modes of the E330 are:
    – Two-operator FM
    – Wavetable synthesis with a selection of waves from the E350 Morphing Terrarium in Z.Morph mode.
    – Cloud oscillator with the four-oscillator mode of the E340 Cloud Generator (both with sines and sawtooths)

    Dual Bernoulli gate

    Two Bernoulli gates. Each of them route each incoming gate/trigger to either of its two outputs. The decision is random, with a controllable amount of randomness (pots + CV input).

    Two control modes:
    – “Direct” in which HEAD = output A ; TAIL = output B.
    – “Toggle” in which HEAD = stay on the same output as before ; TAIL = switch to the other output.

    Dual Low Frequency Oscillator

    A basic dual LFO module. It uses two different types of low frequency oscillator circuits to provide a variety of modulation options.

    LFO 1
    A triangle based low frequency oscillator that utilizes rate and symmetry controls to generate shifting waveforms. Adjusting the symmetry control varies the shape of the TRI output from sawtooth to triangle to ramp and also adjusts the pulse width of the SQR wave output.

    A simple triangle based low frequency oscillator with rate control over the triangle and square outputs.

    The Sequencer module is a compact, simple 8 step analog sequencer. It uses an external clock to cycle through 4, 6, or 8 steps. The output of the sequencer can be used control the pitch of an oscillator, modulate a filter, or manipulate any module with a CV input.

    Complex sequences can be created using a combination of the Reset, Hold, and Add inputs. The Reset input can be used to create odd or variable length loops while Hold pauses the movement of the sequencer. Voltage from the Add input is summed with the voltage created by the Sequencer transcribing the output.

    The Sequencer module also makes a great sub-octave generator. Clocking the Sequencer at audio rates using the square wave of an Oscillator turns the Sequencer into a sub-octave waveform generator able to produce 1 or 2 octaves below the frequency of the clock.

    The Pittsburgh Modular M3 is a unique signal routing module with 3 distinct sections able to perform several different functions at once. Signal splitting, mixing, and buffering are combined to create a module that is both compact and incredibly useful.

    The top section labeled MULT, is a standard 4 jack passive multiple used to create 3 copies of the original signal. One input becomes up to 3 identical outputs.

    The bottom 2 sections, MIX1 and MIX2, both function the same way. Two input and 2 outputs allow each section to be used as a unity gain mixer or signal splitter. Note that MIX1 and MIX2 do not buffer 1v/oct signals.

    The Disting is a 16-in-1 multifunction module, offering a variety of CV and audio processes, including a selection of oscillators (LFOs/VCOs). All algorithms have two high-precision inputs and outputs, and a third control input, exposed on a front panel knob and a CV input.

    The front panel is drilled for both Doepfer and Analogue Systems mounting holes (using a ‘slot’ rather than a single round hole). The power connector is a Doepfer standard 10 way IDC, with -12V furthest from the top of the board.

    The Disting is based around a PIC microcontroller, with a programming/debug header available on the board. Using Microchip’s free development tools, a user can easily hack the Disting to perform their own functions.
